- I love Brad Meltzer's work. I was first introduced to his writing when I read The Book of Fate and after reading The Book of Lies I have become a fan. The Book of Lies had great action and suspense. It was a page turner. I couldn't wait to finish it. I thought it was well written and you could see that the author put much research and thought into it. I was disappointed by the ending but overall it was a great read. I am still trying to figure out what Superman, Cain & Abel, etc had in common, but nonetheless it still had me on the edge of my seat.

>Altered Destiny: A Hustler's Choice - In the Book of Lies, Meltzer tries to fabricate a yarn that links the story of Cain and Abel with the fictional Superman stories with the Nazis. The story drags along, drags some more, and finally gets to an underwhelming conclusion. I wish I could recover the time I spent reading it.
- Ex-ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agent Calvin Harper is an orphan to fate. His tortured childhood clouded his judgement and got him in hot water at ICE and now he has turned into a vigilante social worker. Calvin spends his days and nights helping the homeless. His life is about to take a drastic turn as his past comes back to haunt him and drag him along on a crazy quest.

>I read a lot of the "Da Vinci Code-esque" genre books. This ain't the best I've ever read but it was definitely entertaining. It looks to me like the bad reviews are from folks hung-up on all the plot contrivances. I guess I don't read that technically. I enjoyed the action and it kept me engaged. Good read. - This book has a wonderful first chapter, which leads to a horrible read. Please, do not waste your time with this book.
- Albeit Superman's creator story is sad the story is fast paced. The problem is that these kind of stories can`t have any end so whatever the writer does to finish the book it won't be good. So enjoy the book but don't expect a good end.
